Label Text: Homer loved to depict Americans at the various resorts where they gathered to enjoy themselves. In this scene he shows us the beach at Long Branch, a New Jersey resort. A group of fashionably dressed women begin a descent down the steps to the bathhouse where they will change into equally fashionable and elaborate bathing costumes.
