Label Text: Miyamoto employs traditional woodblock printing techniques to create fanciful, contemporary images. He often features Japanese food items in humorous or poetic presentations against plain backgrounds. Skillful layering of color gives a sense of transparency and depth to his subjects. "I feel as if my work gradually gets away from my hands when I overprint transparent colors. This feeling is similar to flying a paper plane, setting a bamboo leaf boat afloat, or solving an equation."
