Label Text: Omar Rayo was primarily a painter and sculptor who manipulated geometric forms, using a very limited palette of white, black, and red. In his printed works on paper, he often employed an embossed effect, which lent a subtle sculptural element and permitted a further reduction of color. Rayo explored optical illusions as ways to manipulate and entertain the viewer’s eye. Living in New York City in the 1960s and ’70s, Rayo associated with members of the Op Art movement.
