Label Text: The subtle gradation of Reiji Kimura's grays should be calming, yet the underlying, scratching, gestural motions induce a sense of frenetic confusion. These circles and squares present an irregular geometry within an asymmetrical composition. Images by Reiji Kimura and other Japanese artists were included in an important exhibition of avant-garde Japanese work that traveled from San Francisco to New York City in 1965-66.
