Label Text: As a young student as Brydcliffe, a utopian artist colony in Woodstock, New York, Eggers befriended Bolton Brown, the pre-eminent lithographer and a founder of the colony. Eggers’ work in lithography was strongly influenced by Brown, who maintained contact with his student for many years. The rich tonal qualities of this print, evidence of Eggers’ outstanding technique, evoke the feeling and visual intensity of a sudden summer rainstorm in a mountain landscape.
