Label Text: Nichols painted his first canvas in Nebraska in the winter of 1933. He set us his easel in the remains of a cornfield and had to make frequent trips to the house to keep from freezing in the below-zero weather. Company for Supper shows a festive reunion between two farm families on a cold Nebraska winter day, at a time when the only reliable means of transportation through the heavy snow was a wood sledge and team of horses.
